About Our Elders
Our church elders are leaders in servanthood and example. They help and support our pastor and the church body in spiritual growth and ministry direction. Below are our current church elders and their contact email addresses. Feel free to email them and ask about their important ministry in our church!
Dennis Brown has attended Oak Creek for a dozen years and has been an elder for the past decade, serving as the recording secretary. He became a Christian through the Young Life ministry as a teenager in his hometown of Colorado Springs and has been actively involved in that organization, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and local churches for some 40 years. He and his wife, Debbie, moved to the South Bend area in 1991 after previously living and working in Phoenix and San Diego. Dennis worked in journalism for 15 years and now is the chief spokesman and assistant vice president for public information at Notre Dame, where Debbie is the head volleyball coach. They have two sons, Connor, 17, and Ryan, 16.
Dennis most enjoys watching Connor and Ryan participate in baseball and basketball, cheering on Debbie’s team (and others at Notre Dame) and getting in a little exercise of his own, working out at the gym and playing golf. He also enjoys reading (legal mysteries) and keeping up with friends from coast to coast on Facebook.
After living the first 25 years of his life in mainstream religion, Randy came to Christ in 1988 through a revival ministry while living in St. Louis. Following his baptism the same year, major changes began occurring in his life as the Holy Spirit directed his steps. Randy desired to begin a full-time ministry, but was rather gently directed into medicine. He and his wife sold their dream house, moved to Iowa and at the age of 34, began medical school. Graduating residency at 40, Randy has been a practicing physician in Mishawaka since 2002. He enjoys teaching the adult Bible study, playing with the worship team and traveling to Haiti with our church annually. He also loves spending time with his wife and daughter. Randy has a particular interest in the book of Revelation since he believes that Christ's return for the church is imminent. It is Randy's hope and prayer that Oak Creek Community Church can be a light in the world for those seeking Christ.
Dale is married (Susan) and has two children (Angela and Graham). He works in telecommunications and part-time in Real Estate. His hobbies include playing golf. He has been a member of Oak Creek for over 15 years. He loves supporting a church that has a mission to win and build followers of Christ and maintains anenvironment that is comfortable for those seeking God. Over the years Dale has done everything from mowing the lawn to preaching! He has been involved in small group and men’s ministry and has done construction projects at the church and in Haiti. Most Sunday’s he can be found serving in the lobby with the greeter team.
