Childhood Sexual Abuse Prevention and Response: Parenting Seminar

Churches should be a refuge for those who have experienced abuse. But too often survivors haven't found the protection they deserve and the care they need from the church. Would you be willing to join us in changing that? Oak Creek Abuse Prevention & Response Parenting Seminar is practical training that equips parents with age-appropriate ways to protect your children from exposure to sexual abuse and pornography, and response if you suspect abuse had already happened. This training is relevant for all parents, from toddlers to teens.
Topics covered: How to talk to your young children and teens about protecting their bodies How to talk to your children and teens about pornography How to advocate for Safe Child Polices in your church, ministry, or sports teams What do I do if I suspect something has happened to a child to teen in my life? What do I do if a child or teen tells me something has already happened?
Oak Creek offers this seminar free to the community semi-annually at our church building. If you would like trainers to come to your organization, the fee is $5.oo a person, 15 people minimum. This fee includes printed materials and trainers. There may be a travel charge for locations father than 20 minutes from Oak Creek Church,.

Jon and Robyn Joyner Jon worked in social work/foster care in Michiana for ten years. He has a heart for teens and has extensive experience working in trauma informed settings. Robyn is abuse Survivor/Advocate who has a degree and background in Early Childhood Development. Her heart is to equip parents with tools to communicate with their children and open vital lines of communication. Both Jon and Robyn have attended "Caring Well Conference: Becoming a Church that Cares Well for the Abused" and have facilitated multiple Caring Well trainings and seminars. Jon and Robyn have developed this Parenting Seminar from their their Caring Well training and decades of experience in the fields of social work and child development.
